AutoCAD Civil 3D
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2011 software, the building information modeling (BIM) solution for civil engineering,
helps project teams create, predict, and deliver transportation, land development,
and environmental projects more efficiently. AutoCAD Civil 3D helps civil engineers
explore more what-if scenarios and optimize project performance with visualization
and analysis tools such as geospatial and stormwater analysis, quantity-takeoff,
and interactive 3D simulations. The creation of better coordinated and more
reliable design information enables delivery of higher-quality documentation
and accurate 3D models for automated machine guidance during construction.
BIM helps civil engineers minimize errors and omissions, make better decisions,
shorten production time, and gain a competitive advantage.
- Survey Tools – Create figures and edit figure vertices interactively with
new survey tools. Crossing breakline features help identify and edit breaklines
in a survey database or surface and create reports that identify potential
issues.
- Visual Analysis Tools – Line-of-sight tools, including point-to-point and
sight distance along a corridor, enable you to visually inspect the AutoCAD
Civil 3D model.
- 64-Bit Operating System Support – AutoCAD Civil 3D civil engineering software
is now available in a version for 64-bit operating systems, enhancing the
software’s ability to
handle large projects and improving performance and stability for memory-intensive
tasks.
- Corridor Editing Enhancements – Manage the creation and editing of
corridors using visual interaction.
- Point Clouds – Create point clouds in AutoCAD Civil 3D civil engineering
software using data from LIDAR scanning. Import and visualize point cloud
information; stylize point data based on LAS classifications, RGB, elevation,
and intensity; and use data to create surfaces, perform site surveys, and
digitize as-built features for civil engineering design projects.
- Roundabout Layout – Lay out roundabouts more quickly, including signage
and striping, based on common design standards. Dynamically move and edit
the roundabout throughout the optimization process once the horizontal geometry
of a roundabout has been defined.
- Superelevation Improvements – Superelevation improvements now enable a
dynamic relationship between the alignment and the computed superelevation
critical points, and enhance the ability to graphically modify critical points
in a superelevation diagram.
- Transportation Design Enhancements – Transportation design enhancements
offer a more efficient way to design roads and highways. New functionality
includes improved best-fit alignment and profile commands, the ability to
create new alignments from all or part of an existing alignment, automatic
rule-based curve widening, profile tangent extension to a PVI, and support
for intersections located on spirals.
